What Are You Building?

Come see what people are actually building. There’s a lot being built around us that most people never get to see until it’s polished, launched, or fundraising. What Are You Building? is a monthly gathering at Day 1 where five people get a few minutes to show something they’re working on, followed by questions from the room. No judges. No competition. No unsolicited advice. Just people showing what they’re building, a curious room asking good questions, and time afterward to meet the people behind the work. What you show could be a startup, a new product, an app, hardware, a food concept, a community, a creative project, or something that doesn’t fit neatly into any of those categories. You don’t need to be fundraising. You don’t need a polished deck. You don’t even need to be finished. Want to show what you’re building? The five presentation spots for this edition are currently filled, but you can still submit what you’re working on when you register. Plans change, so we may reach out if a spot opens up. We’ll also keep submissions in mind for future editions of What Are You Building? Submitting a project does not guarantee a presentation spot, and whether or not you’re selected, you’re still registered to attend the event. You also don’t need to be based in Taipei. If you’re visiting and building something interesting, we want to hear about it too. About Day 1 Day 1 is a coworking and community space in Taipei for founders, operators, creatives, and people building things. We created it as more than a place to rent a desk. A place to work alongside interesting people, meet others outside your usual circles, and create more opportunities for ideas and projects to collide.

Taipei Urban Mobility Meetup: What Should Transportation in Taiwan Look Like in 2035?

What could transportation in Taiwan look like ten years from now — and what do we want it to look like? Join us for the first Taipei Urban Mobility Meetup, an informal gathering for people interested in transportation, urban planning, mobility, and the future of Taiwan's cities. We're hoping to bring together people from across the transportation ecosystem, including: 🚇 Public transportation, MRT & rail 🚲 Cycling, walking & street design 🏙️ Urban planning & development 🗺️ GIS, mapping & geospatial technology 🚗 Smart transportation & new mobility ✈️ Aviation, logistics & intercity transportation 💻 Transportation technology & software 📊 Transportation policy, research & consulting Whether you're a student, young professional, experienced practitioner, researcher, or simply someone passionate about how our cities move, you're welcome to join. Our starting question for the evening: “What should transportation in Taiwan look like in 2035?” We'll talk about what Taiwan already does well, what could be improved, and the changes we'd most like to see over the next decade. This isn't intended to be a formal conference or lecture. The goal is to meet people, exchange ideas, and build connections across Taipei's transportation and urban planning community. Language: 中文 & English Both Mandarin and English are welcome. Participate in whichever language you're most comfortable using. 🌏 About YPT Taiwan This event is also part of our effort to build a community of young transportation professionals in Taiwan. We are currently working to establish Young Professionals in Transportation (YPT) Taiwan as a local chapter of the international YPT organization. Our goal is to create a community that meets regularly for discussions, professional networking, industry talks, technical/site visits, social events, and connections with transportation professionals internationally. If you're interested in potentially becoming involved with YPT Taiwan, we'll have an interest form available at the event. There's no commitment required at this stage — we're simply looking for people interested in helping build the community from the beginning.

A Gentle Mixer

Hosted by Quietly Social at Day 1 Over the past year, Quietly Social has been exploring a simple question: What if meeting new people could feel calm instead of awkward? After a short break, we're excited to bring A Gentle Mixer back, now at its new home, Day 1. Rather than open mingling or traditional networking, the evening unfolds through a series of small-group conversations designed to make connecting feel natural. There's just enough structure to help conversations get started, while leaving plenty of room for them to take their own direction. Most people come on their own. Whether you're new to Taipei, looking to expand your circle, or simply enjoy thoughtful conversations, we'd love to have you join us. What to expect · Small-group conversations throughout the evening · A relaxed, welcoming atmosphere · People from a variety of backgrounds and experiences · Thoughtfully designed prompts to help conversations unfold naturally No preparation needed. Just come as you are. About Day 1 Day 1 is a community coworking space for founders, creatives, builders, and curious minds. We're excited for this to become the new home of Quietly Social, where meaningful conversations can continue long after the event ends. Who is this for? This is for people who enjoy genuine conversations but don't necessarily enjoy loud social events or traditional networking. If you've ever thought, "I'd love to meet new people, I just wish there were a more natural way to do it." you're probably in the right place. 🎉 September Relaunch To celebrate Quietly Social's new home at Day 1, this month's event is generously sponsored by Day 1 and is free to attend. You're welcome to arrive a little early to explore the space and grab a drink before we begin.
