DAY 1: UNSCRIPTED #01 What’s Actually Worth Building?
Ta Wei Wang · Day 1, Taipei · Open to the public
DAY 1: UNSCRIPTED #01 What’s Actually Worth Building? You have an idea. Maybe even a good one. But how do you know if it’s actually worth building? For the first edition of Day 1: Unscripted, we’re bringing together a small group of founders, operators, and curious builders for a candid conversation with Richard Brown about one of the hardest decisions in entrepreneurship: knowing what’s worth pursuing. No presentations. No panels. No rehearsed founder stories. Just an open fireside conversation about ideas, validation, execution, and the judgment calls that happen before something becomes a real business. We’ll get into questions like: • What separates an interesting idea from a real opportunity? • What do founders commonly mistake for validation? • How much evidence is enough before you commit? • When does testing become procrastination? • How do you distinguish a bad idea from bad execution? • When should you keep going—and when should you walk away? Then we’ll open up the conversation to the room. Bring your questions. Bring something you’re working through. Or just come ready to listen and challenge your own assumptions. About Richard Brown Richard is an entrepreneur and operator with more than 20 years of experience building and scaling businesses across education, renewable energy, IoT, and real estate. He founded and built BROWNS Group, growing it into one of Australia’s leading education brands with a presence across 39 countries, alongside training and purpose-built student accommodation businesses. His experience spans scaling operations, navigating new markets, building global partnerships, and making the difficult strategic calls that come with turning an idea into a real business. About Ivy Chuang Ivy is a serial entrepreneur and the Founder and Chief Botanic Alchemist at Blendily, a botanical wellness brand she has been building since 2014. Drawing on a background spanning product design, technology, and wellness, Ivy has built Blendily around zero-waste skincare, haircare, herbal remedies, teas, and bath products made from bioregional plants. Now based in Taiwan, she is also exploring how AI could make personalized wellness and plant-based healing more accessible. About Day 1: Unscripted Candid conversations with people who build. Unscripted is a recurring series at Day 1, bringing a small group together with founders, investors, and operators to talk openly about the decisions, mistakes, and realities behind building something. Attendance is intentionally limited. The room is part of the conversation. For this launch edition, admission is complimentary with an invite. As Day 1 opens, Unscripted will become part of our regular community programming and one of the perks included with the Day 1 All-Access Membership. Come for the conversation. Stay for the people.
