What Are You Building?

Meet Taipei week starts a little early at Day 1.

Two days before Meet Taipei, five people will take the floor to show us something they’re actually building.

What Are You Building? is a recurring gathering where five people get a few minutes to show something they’re working on, followed by questions from the room.

Five people. Five different things being built.

No judges. No competition. No unsolicited advice.

Just people showing their work, a curious room asking good questions, and time afterward to meet the people behind it.

What you show could be a startup, product, app, hardware project, food concept, community, creative project, or something that doesn’t fit neatly into any of those categories.

You don’t need to be fundraising. You don’t need a polished deck. You don’t even need to be finished.

Want to show what you’re building?

When you register, you’ll have the option to submit what you’re working on for one of the five presentation spots.

We’ll select five projects for this edition. Applying doesn’t guarantee a presentation spot, but we’ll also keep submissions in mind for future editions.

Whether or not you’re selected to present, you’re still registered to attend.

And because this edition falls right before Meet Taipei, we’d especially like to hear from people who may be visiting Taipei that week. You don’t need to be based here if you’re in town and building something interesting, submit it!

What to expect

The doors open at 7:00 PM, with presentations beginning at 7:30 PM.

Each presenter gets a few minutes to show what they’re building, followed by a short, moderated Q&A from the room.

After the presentations, we’ll stick around for drinks, introductions, and the conversations worth continuing.

About Day 1

Day 1 is a coworking and community space in Taipei for founders, operators, creatives, and people building things.

We created it as more than a place to rent a desk — a place to work alongside interesting people, meet others outside your usual circles, and create more opportunities for ideas, projects, and people to collide.
