Naming the attacker, shaping the response in the cyberspace: French & Taiwanese perspectives
The « Science Bubble Tea » is the flagship Franco-Taiwanese science event organised by the French Office in Taipei, where we gather the best French and Taiwanese scientific experts to debate science, technology and societal challenges. For this 20th edition, we will discuss the cybersecurity, political and international law issues related to malwares’ threats and the process of attributing them to a particular actor or State with Dr Karine Bannelier, Director of the Grenoble Alpes Cybersecurity Institute (CyberAlps) and Associate Professor of International Law at Université Grenoble Alpes (UGA), Dr Jean-Yves Marion, Professor of Computer Science at the University of Lorraine, and Dr Shyhtsun Felix Wu, current Dean of the College of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at National Cheng Kung University (NCKU). This Science Bubble Tea session will examine the critical challenges of malwares’ threats and cyber attribution. By bridging technical expertise, international law, and political analysis, our expert panel will provide a comprehensive, multi-dimensional perspective spanning French, European, and Taiwanese viewpoints to untangle these deeply interconnected global stakes.

Breathwork Demystified - From the Trading Floor to the Freediving World Championships
Breathwork is having its moment. Much like yoga went mainstream in the 1990s, breathwork is rapidly gaining popularity. But what exactly is breathwork? The term itself tells us surprisingly little. Some techniques help us relax, others energize us, and still others can produce profound physical and emotional experiences. How can practices with such different effects all fall under the same name? Join Ray Ko, former cash equity sales trader, competitive freediver and breathwork instructor, for an interactive workshop that takes you from the trading floor to the Freediving World Championships. Using footage from his World Championships dive, Ray will take you through his competition day, exploring how he uses different breathing techniques to energize himself in the morning, manage nerves and relax before his dive, and prepare for the extraordinary demands of holding his breath deep underwater. Along the way, he'll introduce his own framework for understanding three different approaches to breathwork: activating, regulating and functional breathing. You'll also discover why CO₂ is one of the most misunderstood gases in your body and how it influences your breathing, oxygen delivery and response to stress. This isn't just a talk. You'll get to experience the techniques yourself, including energizing breathwork, coherent breathing for everyday relaxation and a simple functional breathing exercise. You'll leave with a better understanding of what breathwork actually is, why different techniques produce different effects, and how to choose the right practice for your needs. No previous breathwork experience required. Participation is free with registration. Please support the venue by purchasing a beverage. Why Some Startups WIN with Nir Eyal & Colin Hodge
Bringing together 10+ communities from across Taiwan's startup ecosystem with two bestselling authors. On November 5, Nir Eyal (Hooked, Indistractable, Beyond Belief) and Colin Hodge (Outrageous Startup Growth) are coming together in Taipei for an evening exploring growth, habits and the psychology behind building products, companies and careers. Founders, operators, investors, business leaders, creatives, and ecosystem builders from communities across Taiwan will share the same room. People who may come from different countries, industries, and professional circles, but wrestle with many of the same fundamental questions about building companies, changing behavior, and creating meaningful growth. Rather than another standalone talk, the evening is designed to turn those ideas into connection and conversation. The authors start the conversation. The diversity of the room is what makes it interesting. Door opens: 18:30 at IEAT Convention Center 1F Auditorium Hosted by: Day 1 Presented by: ezily (ezily.io/), Day 2 Coaching (day2coaching.com/), ATH Ventures (ateamhubaccelerator.com/) and Down (www.downapp.com/) Ecosystem Partners (listed alphabetically): 11th Fleet, AI Collective, Boba Tech, China Times Publishing Company, Enspyre, IxDF - Interaction Design Foundation, Octalysis Group, Orbit Ventures, PicCollage, ProChile, Startup DNA, TechSoda, XChange

AI Deathbots : A harmless way to live eternally?
AI is opening up a door to digital eternal life: what does it mean for those who remain, and those who are gone? On Tuesday, November 10th, we’ll gather at Day 1 Coworking in Taipei for a conversation about one of the more unsettling possibilities opened up by generative AI: the creation of “deathbots” or digital replicas of people who have died. As AI systems become increasingly capable of mimicking our language, memories, opinions, voices, and personalities, it is becoming possible to imagine a chatbot that allows us to continue interacting with someone after their death. These systems might offer comfort to grieving families, preserve aspects of a person’s identity, or provide a way for future generations to encounter the thoughts and stories of those who came before them. But what exactly would such a system preserve? Would it be a form of memorial, a new kind of relationship, or simply an elaborate simulation? And who has the right to decide whether someone should be recreated digitally? The conversation will bring together philosophical, ethical, and technological perspectives on deathbots, digital identity, and the possibility of living on through data. Speakers Alexandre Erler is a philosopher whose work explores the ethical implications of scientific and technological developments with the potential to profoundly transform society and the human condition, particularly advances in artificial intelligence and neuroscience. He earned his doctorate in Philosophy from the University of Oxford, where he was affiliated with the Uehiro Centre for Practical Ethics. He is now an Associate Professor at the Institute of Philosophy of Mind and Cognition, National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University, in Taipei. His current research focuses on the philosophical, ethical, and political challenges raised by emerging AI technologies, including their implications for human rights, respect for persons (including the deceased), and democracy. His recent work examines the ethics of AI-generated representations of real people, such as digital recreations of the deceased, commonly known as "deathbots." Andrew Fai is an AI-native systems architect and co-founder of Asia Blockchain Summit (ABS), the marquee blockchain event that brought global talent and investment to Taiwan. He helped jumpstart Taiwan’s crypto ecosystem, building from 10-person coffee-shop meetups to a 15,000-attendee summit, with speakers including Binance’s CZ, Vitalik Buterin, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Today, Andrew builds with AI agents and writes about memory, identity, and human agency. An “ontologist by day, sociologist by night,” he is the author of Make Death an Option. His ambition is to make living forever possible while keeping death a protected choice. For this conversation, he brings a precise question: if an AI remembers your life and speaks in your voice, have you continued, or has something of you been left behind? Moderator: Alix Zerd Alix Zerd leads the Taipei chapter of The AI Collective and works across technology, culture, art, and civic participation. He will moderate the conversation, bringing the speakers into dialogue and helping unpack both the philosophical questions and the practical implications of deathbots. What we’ll explore What makes a digital replica feel like a continuation of a person? Can consent meaningfully survive death? Who should control a person’s digital remains? Could deathbots help us process grief, or would it make it harder to let go? Is a digital afterlife something we would want for ourselves? Format This event will be structured as a moderated conversation between Alexandre Erler and Andrew Fai, followed by audience questions and informal discussion. We will try to think seriously about what it would mean to live, remember, and relate to one another in a world where death may no longer mark the complete end of a person’s presence, physically or digitally. Schedule 6:00 PM · Doors open and check-in 6:30 PM · Welcome and introduction 6:40 PM · Moderated conversation 7:45 PM · Audience Q&A 8:00 PM · Networking and informal discussion 9:00 PM · Event ends Event details Date: Tuesday, November 10th, 2026 Time: 6:00 PM–9:00 PM Location: Day1 Coworking Language: English, with live translation to Chinese Format: In-person conversation and audience Q&A Cost: Free with 1 mandatory drink purchase Organizers: The AI Collective Taipei About Day 1 Co-Working space: Day 1 is a community-first coworking and creator space in Taipei's Da'an District, three minutes from Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall MRT. It is built for people who refuse to coast: founders, freelancers, small teams testing the next thing, and remote workers who want conversation rather than silence. The name comes from the idea that Day 1 is a mindset rather than a stage. It is available to someone who hasn't registered a company yet and to someone three years in with a team of three — anyone still willing to test, be wrong quickly, and start again. What makes it unusual is who runs it. Day 1 is operated by entrepreneurs who have built and exited companies in Asia, are on Day 1 of their own next venture, and are in the space rather than behind a management company. Members get weekly mentor permanence, pitch and feedback nights, member showcases and first-customer sessions alongside desks, meeting rooms and phone booths. Memberships start at NT$2,800 a month (excluding VAT), with a NT$400 day pass. Please be advised: Unfortunately, space is very limited at these community events and we can not always accept everyone we would like to. If you are not accepted to this event, please keep applying! We appreciate your application tremendously and we are looking forward to seeing you at a future event very soon! Entry is free with 1 mandatory drink purchase!

A Gentle Mixer
A calmer way to meet new people in Taipei. Meeting new people can be surprisingly hard. Most social events leave you to walk into a room, introduce yourself to strangers, and somehow turn small talk into an actual conversation. A Gentle Mixer is designed differently. It's a relaxed social evening for meeting new people through thoughtful conversations, without the pressure of networking or having to work the room. Whether you're new to Taipei or have lived here for years, it's a chance to step outside your usual social circle, meet people you might not otherwise cross paths with, and enjoy conversations that go beyond the usual introductions. Come by yourself or bring a friend. Most people come on their own, and we've designed the evening to make everyone feel welcome. There's no pitching, no awkward networking, and nothing you need to prepare. Just come curious. Event Details 📅 Wednesday, November 11, 2026 🕢 7:30 PM – 9:30 PM Admission: NT$200 prepay or $250 at the door, includes choice of one beverage. Space is limited. Registration is required.

What Are You Building?
Meet Taipei week starts a little early at Day 1. Two days before Meet Taipei, five people will take the floor to show us something they’re actually building. What Are You Building? is a recurring gathering where five people get a few minutes to show something they’re working on, followed by questions from the room. Five people. Five different things being built. No judges. No competition. No unsolicited advice. Just people showing their work, a curious room asking good questions, and time afterward to meet the people behind it. What you show could be a startup, product, app, hardware project, food concept, community, creative project, or something that doesn’t fit neatly into any of those categories. You don’t need to be fundraising. You don’t need a polished deck. You don’t even need to be finished. Want to show what you’re building? When you register, you’ll have the option to submit what you’re working on for one of the five presentation spots. We’ll select five projects for this edition. Applying doesn’t guarantee a presentation spot, but we’ll also keep submissions in mind for future editions. Whether or not you’re selected to present, you’re still registered to attend. And because this edition falls right before Meet Taipei, we’d especially like to hear from people who may be visiting Taipei that week. You don’t need to be based here if you’re in town and building something interesting, submit it! What to expect The doors open at 7:00 PM, with presentations beginning at 7:30 PM. Each presenter gets a few minutes to show what they’re building, followed by a short, moderated Q&A from the room. After the presentations, we’ll stick around for drinks, introductions, and the conversations worth continuing. About Day 1 Day 1 is a coworking and community space in Taipei for founders, operators, creatives, and people building things. We created it as more than a place to rent a desk — a place to work alongside interesting people, meet others outside your usual circles, and create more opportunities for ideas, projects, and people to collide.
